Who hasn’t played with snails as a child or been amazed by bugs? Valérie Favre drew inspiration from her childhood memories for the composition of her instructions. Talking about her work created for (re)connecting.earth, she remembers the time when she imagined meetings and dialogues between these different species. Do we lose this inventiveness with age? Favre seems to want to make up for this forgetfulness, perhaps due to an attention deficit. She thus proposes an activity that marries humor with the seriousness of the environmental urgency that threatens both these same insects and humanity.
Strongly influenced by the world of theater, very present in her paintings, Favre invites the audience here in three steps to invent a play about ecological themes, not to be performed by humans, but by insects. As the artist mentions in the last point of her instruction, however: One of them does not seem to agree.
